Your guide will meet you at Maun international airport and transfer you to the lodge where you can unpack, shower and relax. An optional scenic flight over the Okavango Delta can be arranged on request.
Overnight Maun(En-suite Chalet)
We leave Maun early and drive south easterly direction towards Makgadikgadi Game Reserve. Makgadikgadi is the size of Portugal, around 12 000sq km, largely uninhabited by humans. It is part of the Kalahari Basin, yet unique to it – one of the largest salt pans in the world. We do a nice game drive along Boteti river till sunset.
After breakfast we go for a game drive till about 11:00hrs when we return to camp for a delicious brunch. The area is host to large volumes of zebras and wildebeest which migrate into the area. Afternoon drive starts at 15:00hrs till late after sunset….and yes a nice cold gin and tonic to enhance your sunset experience.
Early breakfast, pack up and drive along the Boteti river to search for those elusive cats before we finally head out towards Nxaipan national park. If the conditions of the route allows as it gets really bad in rainy season, we visit Baines Baobabs before getting to our campsite.
Early morning game drive exploring Nxaipan in search of game – the area has a variety of game that change according to seasons or the availability of grass and water. Return to camp at about 11:00hrs for a delicious brunch, relax in camp between the game drives.
After breakfast we park up and do a short drive around the pan before making our way towards Nxaipan entrance gate and turn right to Maun. Arrive in Maun in one of the lodges where you will unpack and freshen up before dinner.
Overnight Maun(En suite chalet)
Start up nice and early, and our drive takes us through traditional villages before crossing into Buffalo fence, announcing ourselves in a wildlife area where you will start seeing your first animals like impala, giraffes and elephants. We do a nice drive through Sankoyo, Mababe village and enter Khwai concession area, our drive takes us along the Khwai river till we arrive in our campsite.
Khwai concession area is a wildlife-rich area 180,000 ha gem on the fringes of the Okavango Delta – sandwiched between Moremi Game Reserve and Chobe national park. With no fences separating Khwai from other areas, you are likely to see a variety of wildlife. We return to camp at about 11:00hrs for a delicious brunch, relax in camp between the drives.
Morning and afternoon drives exploring Khwai in search of wildlife and those elusive cats. Mokoro(dug-canoe)trip in the afternoon for two hours and then wrap up the day with a nice afternoon drive till sunset and that nice cold beer and gin and tonic.
After a delicious breakfast we pack up and do a nice drive along Khwai river before we finally leave the area to Maun. Arrive in Maun in time so you can take your onward flight or just a relaxing night in a lodge in Maun before your flight tomorrow.
